key of “E” Fig. A | E | E | E | E | Verses | E | E A | E |E A | | E | E A | E | E (walk up)| Choruses | A | A | E | E | | B | A | E | E | Outline: Listen to the track as you read this. Begin with a melody called “Figure A” which consists of playing the melody line twice through. The verse stays in E, with a quick A on the last beat of each two-bar phrase. The end of a verse builds and does a “walk up” to the A to begin the chorus. The pattern of “Fig.A / Verse / Chorus” continues throughout the song. After the fifth chorus, repeat that chorus, then vamp on “Fig.A” five times. The fifth repeat builds with heavy triplets to a retard of the figure for the ending. |
