Marvin and Raven Taylor
"...The love you take is equal to the love you make." The Beatles
A PHOTO HISTORY |
"I had lived what seemed like a whole lifetime, hoping beyond hope, that this woman actually existed somewhere, and that I would find her. For more than ten years, before I went to sleep each night, I would try to imagine my perfect life. I'd see myself walking around in my perfect house, working in my perfect creative environment, working out in my gym, and, at some point, she would appear in the vision. I'd always think, 'Well, of course, there will be someone for me to share this with.' But, when the vision was so detailed that the woman looked exactly the same each time, I worried, thinking 'What if this is not how she should look, and I miss her by mistake?' So I'd deliberately erase the precise image and replace it with a 'generic' one. Finally, when Raven and I had been seeing each other for a month or more and had already fallen in love, we were sitting across from each other, and I went over to the window to close the blinds. When I turned around again and saw her, it took my breath away! It was the exact detailed vision I had seen every night for over ten years! I was speechless."

This is Raven standing in front of her pastel drawing entitled
The Warrior Woman. Marvin convinced her to allow him to
display the dramatic work in the entryway of his old studio in
Decatur, GA , the year before he and Raven were married.

This picture is totally out of sequence in terms of history -
Raven did this sketch of Willie
in 2000, nine years after The Warrior Woman above. I am going to insist
that she find
more time in her busy schedule for her art - otherwise, as I write this in 2007,
I will still have
two more years to wait for something for another wall in the studio!
