Free Tab! The focus of the "Band In The Pocket!" CD series has always been primarily to encourage musicians to express themselves through improvisation. However, we have had several people raise the valid issue of beginners just needing a bit of a jump-start! Jody Worrell is a well known Atlanta session player and guitar teacher who uses the "Band In The Pocket!" CD series in his teaching. Jody mostly teaches advanced students, but has taught enough beginners to know that everybody needs a starting place, and he offered to share some simple solos with a very simple version of tab. (Note: the tab does not include note values, so listening to his solo while reading the tab is essential to get the timing. We both agree that this makes for a good practice assignment anyway!) By the way, as I mentioned, Jody is a fine player and a great teacher... two things that don't always go together! I'm not exactly sure what the best procedure is for the presentation of all this yet, so for now I am just going to post it all, and you guys e-mail me some suggestions as to how to make this work better for you!
